The Men's Shed concept started in Australia and rapidly spread all over the world as a place where men could meet up to make and mend anything from a bird box to a computer. One of our objectives is to provide a welcoming space and positive social environment that promotes social inclusion and delivers public benefit to men living in the Chesterfords and the surrounding areas.
Chesterfords Shed is a meeting place where men make friends and discuss issues amongst likeminded members, which they may not otherwise discuss. It’s a place where skills learnt from years of experience working in a myriad of occupations can be used for the benefit of others in the community. It’s a place where a man of any ability can be given the opportunity to fulfil an ambition whilst being supported by others with skills or experience.
We are just getting started, but while we look for our first permanent base we have a temporary location in Great Chesterford.
We need your help to fund our work today, and to build and equip our permanent home.
Small donations are very welcome through our a GoFundMe page.
For larger donations from individuals, trusts, charities or businesses please contact us for our bank details. chesterfords.shed@gmail.com
Our full name is Chesterfords Community Men’s Shed but we shorten that to Chesterfords Shed. The Chesterfords (Great Chesterford and Little Chesterford) can be found in the northernmost part of Essex.
If you're interested in getting involved with the shed, have a project we could help with, or could donate equipment, please come along to a meeting, or send a message to chesterfords.shed@gmail.com
